Opa’s Visit
by Wijbrandus on Jun.01, 2009, under Uncategorized
We enjoyed a family weekend this weekend, with a visit from Opa and Oma (George and Ben’s grandparents on the Dutch side). Fortunately, the weather cooperated, and we have nothing but sunshine and warm days the entire time. Saturday, we spent the day exploring the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium (a suprisingly nice zoo, and well worth the time to reach). Sunday we enjoyed a day at a local park and barbeque-ing in the backyard.
Today, the weather has turned sour again, with rain and chilly winds. Unfortunately, the visit is over as well, with the grandparents making the long drive back to Pennsylvania again. Next visit is planned for sometime in October, probably near George’s 5th birthday.

Been a while

I am again slipping out of the habit of writing regularly, despite my good intentions. Just too many distractions and other items to keep me occupied.
Summer is starting here though, and the backyard is looking decent again after a lot of hard work. We even did some grilling outside last night, with the boys playing with bubble machines for fun. It was a nice break from staying indoors for the last six months.
Our pool is progressing slowly, but I am still hoping to have it ready by this weekend. Most of the winter leaves and debris have been cleared out, all that remains is the last few pieces and to start up the filter. That will clear out the cloudiness in the water, and return it to sparkling. Then the trick becomes how to keep the kids out when we are not watching.
